    Mini Koo Wood Powered Speaker

Koostiks first all wood audio dock for the iPhone, while attractive in its own right, is a bit too similar to the other plastic docks on the market. Sure, it’s cool, since it doesn’t use electronics to amplify the iPhone’s audio, and instead depends on natural acoustics to increase the volume 2-4 times. But looking back in retrospect the design lacks the same allure as their second dock, the mini koo. The mini koo uses the same sound channeling properties as its big brother, but places it in a sleeker, smaller, more bed friendly sized package. Audio is channeled through the bottom of the box and pumped through the the mini koo’s “trumpet horn” speaker port. Unfortunately, they don’t say what the amplification is, but since it’s smaller than their first product we can only assume it’s half as much. And clearly it’s practical for traveling since no power is needed and it measures 3.5″ x 5″ x 1.5″. It probably ain’t super light weight, but that’s a caveat that we’re willing to accept since it comes in either solid walnut or warm solid cherry wood. It also been rubbed down with an Earth friendly orange oil and beeswax combination, which not only gives it an added luster, but seals in all that wood goodness.
