Transmission towers may be an eyesore on a perfect road trip, so Daniel Ballou found a better place for them: on your desktop.

Daniel Ballou is an industrial designer from Long Beach California. He specializes in quirky projects, including the miniature wire handling tower: Power Lines.

"There are hundreds of miles of power lines strung across the California desert landscape,” he observes. "A miniaturized version in bent, chromed wire works well for the desk.”

He also took other elements of his Californian origin to his works. He devised a miniature ceramic version of the iconic metal cargo boxes that often come in and out of the city.

"Here, you have a ceramic version scaled to become a useful storage container for the home. It’s likely that whatever is stored inside, has seen the inside of a cargo container before. A reminder of what goes around the world and makes the world go round for the last 50 years.”
